Description

A delicious and comforting casserole made with yams and apples, topped with a sweet and spiced mixture.


Ingredients

  • 2 large yams, peeled and cubed
  • 3 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed yams and sliced apples.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  4. Pour the sugar mixture over the yams and apples, and toss gently to coat evenly.
  5. If using, stir in the chopped pecans and raisins.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the yams are tender and the top is slightly caramelized.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
