  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • ½ teaspoon instant yeast

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and instant yeast.
  2. Gradually add the warm water to the flour mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon until there are no dry patches.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp towel and let it rest at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours, until the dough is bubbly and has doubled in size.
  4. After the resting period, dust a clean surface with flour. Turn the dough out onto the floured surface and sprinkle the top with flour as well.
  5. Gently stretch and fold the dough into a rectangle, then divide it into two equal pieces.
  6. Place the dough pieces on a floured baking sheet and cover them with a towel. Let them rise for another 45 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a baking stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  8. Carefully transfer the risen dough onto the baking stone or a baking tray.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread turns golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  10. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
