Description

Potato Fondant with Chicken is a deliciously rich dish that balances the flavors of tender chicken and creamy potatoes, making it perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into thick slices
  • 4 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
  • 4 tablespoons Kikkoman soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large ovenproof skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Once the oil is hot, sear the chicken thighs skin-side down until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Flip the chicken thighs and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced potatoes and arrange them in a single layer.
  6. Pour the soy sauce over the potatoes and place the chicken thighs back on top.
  7. Add enough water to just cover the potatoes, then bring to a simmer.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and potatoes are tender.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in soy sauce before cooking.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the skillet with potatoes for even cooking.
