Description
Crab Crescent Bites Delight are a rich, savory party appetizer combining buttery crescent rolls with flavorful crab meat, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 6 oz canned crab meat, drained well
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl and beat with a spatula until smooth and creamy.
- Drain the canned crab meat thoroughly, pressing gently with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Gently fold the crab meat into the cream cheese.
- Add the chopped green onions, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and Old Bay seasoning to the mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles along the perforations. For smaller bites, cut each triangle in half lengthwise to create two smaller triangles.
- Place approximately 1 tablespoon of the crab filling onto the wider end of each triangle.
- Roll up each triangle, starting from the wide end and rolling toward the pointed end. Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, making sure the pointed ends are tucked underneath to prevent unraveling during baking.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush each crescent roll lightly with the egg wash.
- If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning over the tops for extra flavor and visual appeal.
- Bake for 11-13 minutes, until the crescents are golden brown and puffed up.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter.
Notes
- Drain the crab thoroughly to prevent the filling from becoming runny.
- Use room temperature cream cheese for a smooth filling.
- Don’t overfill to avoid bursting during baking.
- Create a seal by pinching edges after rolling.
- Store leftover bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- For best results, reheat in an oven preheated to 325°F for about 5-7 minutes until warmed through.
- Unbaked crescents can be frozen and baked from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes to the baking time.
- Serve with lemon wedges and dipping sauces like remoulade or cocktail sauce for added flavor.
