Description
Delicious Thai Corn Fritters made with a blend of corn, flours, and spices, perfect as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup corn kernels (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 2 green onions, finely sliced
- 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- 1/2 cup water or as needed
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rice flour, salt, black pepper, and chili powder.
- Add the corn kernels, chopped green onions, and cilantro to the dry mixture.
- Gradually add water to the bowl, mixing until a thick batter forms. Ensure the batter is not too runny.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. The oil should be about 1 inch deep.
- Once the oil is hot, scoop a tablespoon of the batter and carefully drop it into the oil. Repeat for several fritters, ensuring they do not overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve the Thai corn fritters warm with a dipping sauce of your choice.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before adding the batter to achieve a crispy texture.
- Adjust the amount of chili powder according to your spice preference.
- These fritters can be paired with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
